Skills and time from individuals like you are what transform ideas into meaningful action. By volunteering with Greenhouse, you become part of a community working to restore relationships between people, culture and nature.
Volunteers contribute 6–10 hours per week, leaving plenty of time to explore Cape Town, work remotely, enjoy the ocean or simply become part of our community.
Depending on your interests and experience, you may participate in one or more of our projects.
In collaboration with Preschool in Vrygrond township, volunteers support local teachers by:
- playing and dancing with preschool children
- facilitating creative and educational activities
- reading stories, music and movement sessions
No formal teaching experience is required - warmth, patience and enthusiasm are far more important.
Our clay studio provides a creative space where Indigenous women gather to learn ceramic skills, develop confidence and explore opportunities for income generation.
Volunteers may assist with:
- preparing clay and materials
- supporting creative workshops
- documenting the project through photography or video
BUILDING FUTURE PROJECTS
Volunteers are welcome to contribute ideas, research and professional skills while collaborating on future environmental, educational and cultural projects, including the development of the PEACE Institute, our long-term vision for Indigenous-led ecological education and regenerative living.
Whether your background is in design, communications, ecology, education, fundraising, psychology, research or community development, your knowledge can help shape projects that create lasting impact.
Many of our volunteers are remote professionals, researchers, artists and entrepreneurs.
Your volunteering can be comfortably combined with remote work. With only 6–10 volunteer hours per week, you'll have ample time for your own projects while living within an inspiring international community.
We welcome people from diverse backgrounds who value kindness, curiosity, cooperation and ecological responsibility. Whether your skills are in education, gardening, social media, fundraising, photography, administration, design, construction, event organisation or community facilitation, there may be a place for you within Greenhouse.
Above all, we are looking for people who are willing to learn, contribute positively to community life, and help create practical change through collaboration.
